DJI has announced yet another product update: the new Matrice model is a high-end, professional workhorse for commercial applications like inspection, mapping and surveillance. The M300 RTK was released with the Zenmuse H20 Series, a hybrid, multi-sensor camera system which covers a wide range of specialized use cases.
The drone features a unique design with a top-mounted body and bottom-mounted blades, which makes it look very different compared to the previous Matrice model 210. The new design should help to still have a less obstructed view from the onboard cameras while carrying all the sensing and positioning technology.
The new camera system Zenmuse H20
The H20 series comes in two versions: The H20 features a 20MP camera with a 23x hybrid optical zoom, a 12MP wide-angle camera, and a laser range finder that can read distances from 3m to 1200m. The H20T has in addition a 640×512 radiometric thermal camera with a high thermal sensitivity 30 fps video definition.
New safety and reliability features
The M300 RTK comes with new and improved safety and reliability enhancements, including:
- AES-256 Encryption: for secure data transmission of commands and video transmission
- AirSense (ADS-B technology): for enhanced airspace safety
- Anti-Collision Beacon: for increased aircraft visibility, especially in low-light conditions
- 6 Directional Sensing and Positioning System
- IP45 Protection Rating & Self-Heating Battery: in a temperature range of -20 to 50° C
Battery life has been improved, too. The Matrice 300 has a flight time of 55 minutes, which is a big step up from the Matrice 200 (38 minutes) and the prosumer drone Inspire 2 (27 minutes). The power comes from dual batteries which allow hot-swapping while the drone is on the ground.
Prices and availability
The M300 RTK and Zenmuse H20 series are available for pre-order from official DJI Enterprise dealers and will start shipping in Q2 2020. Pricing details and information on where to buy will be available at your local DJI Enterprise Partners.
